For many families in India, a pet is a member of the family, and it feels right to say goodbye the same way. Prayers, a lamp, flowers, a few words from each family member: these small rituals can bring real comfort. This guide explains how pet last rites can be arranged in Bangalore and what to expect on the day.

Can you perform last rites for a pet?

Yes. More and more families choose to honour their pet with simple prayers or rites in keeping with their own faith and customs. Some prefer a short prayer at home before the pickup; others want a pujari present at the cremation or burial. There is no single right way. What matters is that the goodbye feels meaningful to you.

What does the PawSpace pujari add-on include?

When you book a cremation or burial with PawSpace, you can add a pujari for ₹5,999. The pujari performs prayers and last rites for your pet, and we coordinate the timing with the centre so you do not need to arrange anything separately. Tell us about your family’s customs and preferred language when you call, and we will do our best to arrange the rites accordingly.

Cremation centres close after 5 PM. If your pet passes late in the day, we can provide a freezer box (₹1,999 extra) to keep your pet safely until the rites and cremation the next morning. This gives your family time to gather, too.

How can rituals help with grief?

Rituals give shape to a difficult moment. They let the whole family come together, say what they need to say and mark the end of a shared life. Many families tell us that a simple prayer helped them feel they had done right by their companion. Grief still takes time; our guide to coping with the loss of a pet has some gentle suggestions.

Can you hold a remembrance later?

Yes. Some families hold a small remembrance on the tenth or thirteenth day, on the first anniversary, or simply on a day that felt special to their pet, such as a birthday or adoption day. It can be as simple as lighting a lamp next to the urn, feeding street animals in your pet’s name, or planting a tree with their ashes. There is no rule about how or when; choose what feels right for your family.

What should you tell us when you call?

  • Your address and a landmark for pickup.
  • Your pet’s approximate size.
  • Cremation or burial, and whether you would like the pujari add-on.
  • Your family’s customs and preferred language.
  • Whether you want the ashes delivered home or planted.
